Original 12 in. paper dial signed "Edw. P. Baird & Co. Plattsburgh, NY", has black Roman hour numerals, spade hands, original 8 day brass time only spring driven movement signed "Baird Clock Co., Plattsburg, NY" with long pendulum rod and cast spelter bob. Rustic figure eight style wood and paper mache case with relief lettering around the door and lower door which reads "Clapperton's Six Cord Spool Cotton - Is The Best, Geo. Ross & Co., Agents, Montreal"; has an unusual filigree scrollwork around the lower door which is unique to Baird clocks. Condition: Case front has some rubbing to the surface, chip on left edge of upper door; some surface cracking to the back side of upper door and upper glass was later secured with a putty substance. c.1890. 30.5 in. high x 18.5 in. wide x 4.25 in. deep. Weight: 11.5 lbs.
