Description
1st-2nd century AD. A group of five carnelian intaglios comprising: one with standing figure wearing helmet and holding shield; one with robed figure holding sickle-shaped object and staff, possibly Fortuna (Greek Tyche); one a standing urn flanked by two smaller pedestals; one a figure with one leg bent, wearing a cap and holding a spear and torch; and one set in an iron ring with motif of two fish. 3.4 grams total, 8.9-16.2mm (1/4-3/4"). Property of a European lady living in London; from her father's family collection formed before 1978. [5]
