c. 1750-1760 European Horseman's Broadsword measuring 33.75" overall length, Fine.
A very interesting German or French or Dutch Horseman's Broadsword, measuring 33.75" in overall length with a 28.5" curved single edge blade with upper edge fuller (blade's edge shows evidence of contact with other blades). The most distinguishing features of this type of sword is the brass stirrup-shaped knuckle bow, single side branch leading to a high outboard shell guard and included a thumb ring. Original wood grip is missing the wrap. No scabbard. This type often carried and used in the American Colonial era French and Indian War and the American Revolutionary War.
