Rome, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. Attractive marble statue of the goddess Venus - the Roman version of the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Known for her beauty, she was the Roman goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Nude save a draped gown fallen to just about her knees on the front and covering much of her back side. Size: 2" W x 5" H (5.1 cm x 12.7 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
