Description
Initials painted in gold on a red field on one side and with "42" painted on the other side of canteen. 42 may refer to the 42nd Massachusetts Regiment which did two tours of duty with the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Newburyport volunteers were over represented in the regiment. Together with another a smaller painted example in old red paint. 6 1/2 x 6 1/4 x 2 1/4 inches.
Condition
Paint loss and wear. Larger one missing plug and its leather strap.
