Rare German WW2 CLOSE COMBAT BADGE IN SILVER, Nahkampfspange in Silber.
The Close Combat Clasp was introduced in late 1942 in order to award personnel who fought in hand to hand combat situations.
The clasp was issued in three grades Bronze, Silver and Gold with each successive grade signifying more days spent in hand to hand or close combat.
Criteria for award of the clasps consisted of fifteen days of hand to hand combat for the of the Bronze award, thirty days of hand to hand combat for the Silver one and fifty days of hand to hand combat for being awarded the Gold clasp.
