Extremely rare German Academy Aeronautical Research Membership Badge.
The badge is maker marked, in Bronze version. The academy had a total of 218 members during its existence and all were awarded badges consecutively numbered.
This particular badge has a low number - 81. The item is in excellent condition.
This item sold by guy who is going to sell some of his Grandpas WWII relics, that he brought back from Germany in 1945. It was picked up by his Grandfather, who was a Sgt. in the U. S. Army.
Reference: Detlev Niemann in 'Price Guide. Orders and decorations Germany', 2008, page 263, catalogue price is $5500 - 10 years ago !!.
