Description
A Chinese bronze figure of the happy Buddha or Budai dating from the 18th to 19th century. The figure sits with a string of prayer beads in 1 hand and a bag in the other. The robe is decorated with a design of the 8 Buddhist emblems.
Dimensions are: 5 1/2 inches tall X 6 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Minor oxidation to the figure's left shoulder, but overall good.
Provenance: From a gentleman in Seattle whose father collected in Taiwan in the 1960s while working as a US military advisor.
