Oval decorated sterling silver box with relief filigree, birds and scenes of winged putti in the forest; stands on pilaster style legs with winged putti heads, wrapped with ivy, has pierced decorated aprons with crossed quiver, torches and laurel branches, the lower stretcher has a large figure of a swan. Case is stamped with German 925 hallmark with crescent moon and crown on the bottom. Brass spring driven animated singing bird mechanism with figural bird appearing from under the lid, it swivels back and forth while moving its wings and beak and whistles.
