PENNSYLVANIA SCHOOL HOUSE PIECED QUILT, hand-stitched, 25 pattered blocks having printed fabrics with double-pink fabric sashing and border, zig-zag and chain quilting, four-paneled double-pink fabric backing. Embroidered "S T A" initials in lower right-hand block, hand-written "Stanley" in lower left-hand block, embroidered "1914" on backing. Dated 1914. 88" x 79".
Fair to good overall condition, top with several mended areas, scattered tears and small stains, light discoloration along edges, separation and wear on binding, backing with few scattered mends, tears, and light discoloration, few spots.
Provenance: From the 50-plus year collection of the late Joan M. Wentz, Germansville, PA.
