PARIS FRANCE 1906 BLACKSMITH LE METAL BRONZE MEDAL
An outstanding antique French Bronze Cornered Edge Medal 'Le Metal' signed Lavigne lower right, circa 1906 high relief depiction of a metal worker with hammer in hand anvil at his side and organic Art Nouveau flower foliate forms in his other, in a nice rich aged brown patina, nicely honoring the artistry of the metal work and his obvious contributions to "Art Nouveau", the back of the medal reads, 'Ville De PARIS - Visite Du LONDON County Council A L'Ecole Boulle 9 Fevrier 1906 4 Annee', and is stamped, 'Mercier' in the lower left. This medal comes with its original silk and velvet lined case and would make an impressive gift or addition to any fine collection.
