AMERICAN OR BRITISH CUT-AND-PASTED SILHOUETTE OF A WOMAN, with gilt highlights, no signature located. Housed in a period rosewood frame. Together with a hollow-cut example having black glass backing. Two pieces total. Mid 19th century. Larger example 5 3/4" x 4 1/4" sight, 9 5/8" x 8 1/8" OA.
Larger example in good visual condition with moderate toning and discoloration. Not examined out of frame. Other example as-found with toning, tears, and losses. Frame disassembled with damage and loss.
Provenance: Property from the private collection of Lucy and Col. Richard Collie (ret.), Fairfax Station, VA.
