Item Details
Description
**First Time At Auction**

Classical World, Italy, Etruscan culture, ca. 768 to 264 BCE. A near miniature ceramic dipper with a round, slightly flaring bowl and a tall, integrated strap handle with a vaguely anthropomorphic form. The body is a rich black color, of a style known as Bucchero ware, now slightly faded with age. Bucchero is a specifically Etruscan style for firing pottery which results in a smooth, shiny black finish. This dipper may have been made specifically to be buried with offerings, as much fine Etruscan pottery was. Size: 2.3" W x 3.7" H (5.8 cm x 9.4 cm)

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
