This FIRST volume contains 50 single-sided, handcolored copper engraved plates on handlaid paper! About 20 of the 50 Hand-Colored Plates include illustrations of NEMATODE ROUNDWORMS, TAPEWORMS, FLUKES, SPINY-HEADED WORMS, GORDIOID WORMS, with emphasis on the Parasitic kinds; another 20 of the 50 Hand-Colored Plates treat SHELL-LESS MOLLUSCS (Slugs; Squids), SEGMENTED ANNELID WORMS/POLYCHAETES, SALPS and TUNICATES; and the remaining 10 Hand-Colored Plates illustrate an array of ECHINODERMS, such as SEA-ANEMONES, JELLYFISH and Other CNIDARIANS/COELENTERATES; SEA-CUCUMBERS, SEA-URCHINS, BRITTLESTARS, STARFISH, CRINOIDS! The volume consists of 404 text pages with attractive gothic characters, and a unique engraved title plaque that highlights Seaside Marine Collectors. Text pages have some generalized foxing throughout but plates are remarkably clean and bright, all tightly bound in original dark-green boards that show some surface soiling, bumped corners and wear along edges (see images for details).
