Description
Chinese Neolithic or Shang Dynasty Jade Ring. Gorgeous translucent rich green Nephrite Jade with cream, reddish/brown, and tan mottling. Decorated with intricately carved linked scrolls. Exhibits areas of calcification/alteration and a wonderful old silky smooth polish over its entirety. An example in similar size and very similar carved motif is pictured in Jessica Rawson's renowned reference book - CHINESE JADE - From the Neolithic to the Qing - on page 42 - and identified as from Southern China and dating to the Late Neolithic to Shang Dynasty Era (ca. 2000-1500 B.C.). Measures 2 1/2" round x 15/16" tall with a 2 1/8" interior diameter. Weighs 62 grams.
