Description

A Tang Dynasty Limestone Head of Buddha and Stand. Dimensions: 7 x 3 3/4 x 3 1/4 in. Provenance: Robert Edwards (1883-1979) and his wife Gloria (1886-1960). Thence by descent. Robert arrived in Shanghai in 1910, to work for Jardine, Matheson & Co. He married Gloria Byrne in 1917 and it was Gloria who took a special interest in acquiring Chinese antiques. Condition

The head is in good overall condition for pieces of this type. No repair or restoration.
