George Rhoads
Illinois, New York,b.1926
The machine contains an intricately layered downward track with coils, cyclone forms, and xylophone-like middle section striking twenty-six cascading notes. Along it's path the ball strikes twelve metallic polychrome painted wind chimes of varied form with a large blue accent chime within the center of a cyclone. The sculpture is an early example of Rhoads' work predating any collaborative sculpture with Rockstream Studio or Creative Machines.
Painted metal
48 1/2" tall,17" x 14" x 15" at the base
Signed and dated "GR 86" on base.
From the living estate of Dr. and Mrs. Silverstein, Woodbridge, Connecticut.
Condition
Minor wear to painted surfaces where ball makes contact during travel and wind chimes, otherwise good condition. Comes with two balls.
