Description
Greece, Hellenistic period or later, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A charming ladle, cast from leaded bronze, with a deep bowl, a small, flat rim, and a short, flat, flaring handle with a Greek inscription - probably indicating ownership - on its upper side. Ladles were used to make offerings of wine or other libations as well as to taste or serve food and drink. Size: 3.25" W x 4.7" H (8.3 cm x 11.9 cm); 5.8" H (14.7 cm) on included custom stand.
