Description
A pair of Viennese Empire Candlesticks by Anton Koell. Viennese Empire period, circa 1790-1814. Three outscrolled arms with double flat bands having gentle upturned curve with the sockets rising between the bands. These are edged by broad bands which protect from dripping wax. Truncated hollow cone base has chased decoration, typical of the period. Stopper/finial decoration consisting of flower's blossoms, to extinguish flames. When in place in center the sticks have three lights; when removed there are four lights. The entire top is removable for single light candlesticks. Fully hallmarked INCLUDING the floral finials which ARE sterling. Each approx 22-1/2"H. ADDITIONAL IMAGES POSTED>Each piece is hallmarked.
