Oval in form, the top and sides veneered in Coromandel wood, the bottom in Rosewood, with oval brass monogrammed "Mattie A.Whittelsey, " with brass escutcheon and lock marked Patent. 1.75 in.h. x 9.75 in.l.

Condition: Repair to veneer at back near hinge, some minor lifting of veneer at ends of box, some shrinkage, interior with gouges, Lacking key, wear as appropriate for age and use.
