Description
1891 Paracelsus Alchemy MAGIC Occult Hartmann Philosophy Cosmology
“All things are poisons, for there is nothing without poisonous qualities. It is only the dose which makes a thing poison.” ― Paracelsus
Theophrasti Bombastus, or Paracelsus, was an important Renaissance physician, alchemist, and occult astrologist. He is remembered for his modern approach to medical thought, differing from that of great thinkers like Aristotle. However, his approaches to medicine were not considered effective or ‘true’ medicine. Paracelsus detailed the use of magic and the zodiac as the secret to his disease cures. He even included instances of necromancy and witchcraft as remedies to certain ailments.
Franz Hartmann’s ‘Life of Paracelsus’ is one of the best biographical works on the 16th-century philosopher. Hartmann describes and explains studies of cosmology, anthropology, magic and sorcery, medicine, alchemy, and astrology.
