Condition
In overall good condition. There is a 1-1/4" very shallow dent/scratch on the body at the fullest part,
about halfway between the center side and handle. Very light compression dent on the lid at one end of
the handle. Otherwise no dents or scratches noted beyond the expected wear and pinpoint dings
commensurate with age and use. Excellent detail to the acanthus mounts. No repairs, armorials or
erasures. Hallmarked (on the underside of the body and the rim of the lid) with: 1) the sterling lion
passant; 2) the London leopard's head [lacking on the lid]; 3) the date letter "u" for 1835-1836; 4) the
William IV bust duty mark; and 5) the WKR" maker's mark of William Ker Reid. The handle part-marked
with the lion passant, duty mark and maker's mark; the handle retaining nut part-marked with the lion
passant. Marks excellent. A very handsome and hefty piece.
