8vo (235 x 159 mm). 46 photogravure plates, folding map mounted on linen in lower cover pocket. Original half red morocco, marbled boards by Zaehnsdorf (slightest rubbing to extremities). Provenance: George Kitchin (bookplate).
FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 59 of 60 signed copies on Japon vellum. "Fitzgerald made a number of good climbs after losing the first ascent of Mount Cook to local climbers. Both he and his book were unpopular with New Zealand mountaineers" (Neate F36). A VERY FINE COPY.
