Description

The Construction of Mill Dams: Comprising Also the Building of Race and Reservoir Embankments and Head gates, the measurement of streams, Gauging of water Supply, &c. First edition of a rare book. Pub. 1874 by James Leffel & Co. A technical study on the construction of dams and related topics. Highly illustrated with 47 full-page wood-engraved plates, and a number of smaller drawings. Examples given in the text cover nearly all the conditions under which mill dams are built, materials used and the variety of designs and expedients adopted to overcome natural difficulties. There is also much useful information concerning the building of embankments and the measurement of streams and water supplies. Clean with some rubbing to tips and spine ends. 3-inch section of spine cloth re-glued. Tiny bit of fraying at top spine. Spine sunned with 3.5" split in middle rear joint. Light maroon cloth on boards. Hinges firm. Interior near fine. 312 pages plus 24-page catalog. 6.5 x 9.5.
