Frederick DeBourg Richards. Random Sketches, or, What I Saw in Europe. Phila: G. Collins, 1857. 8vo. 344 p. 4 salt print photos, including the portrait frontis of Richards. SIGNED by Richards beneath portrait. Some minor stains, otherwise text clean. Half brown morocco, marbled boards. Richards (1822-1903) was an important 19th c. American landscape painter and etcher who also had a keen interest in the new art of photography. This is one of the earliest American photo-illustrated books.
