Reserve Reduced!
Late 18th to early 19th century iron Japanese sword iron tsuba with pierced decoration of Chorio reaching for a shoe among cresting waves observed by a fierce dragon, 2 sides presenting back and front views. Did not photograph well - photos came out a bit harsh. Choryo (one of the Three Heroes of the Han Dynasty) jumped in the river to retrieve a shoe lost by an old rider iKosekiko (Yellow Stone Elder), who rewarded Choryo with a scroll containing great wisdom. Superb design, probably copied from a woodblock print, extraordinary crisp work, inlaid copper and gold highlights, wonderful faces of both characters, in excellent condition. Beautiful wear and patina consistent with age. Height 3 3/16 inches.
Please note that this lot has a confidential reserve. When you leave a bid in advance of the auction, submit your maximum. The bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot, provided the bid exceeds the reserve price.
