Description
2-piece blue & white floral brocade, back lacing bodice w/ V waist front & back, white tulle trim, B 36", W 24 ", L 56", (tulle trim damaged, stains at underarms & brown stains on skirt, small skirt hole) fair. Robert W. de Forest, NYC blue-blood,1848-1931 was director & 1st president of The MET & President of Am. Red Cross during WW I. In 1872 he married Emily Johnston (1851-1942), dau. RR tycoon John Taylor Johnston. This Lot likely belonged to grand parents of RW de Forest or E Johnston.
