French Impressionist
Born in Paris in 1922, the son of poet Henry Derieux. At first, he worked along the lines of suggestedly Picabia and Andre Lhote, then attended the Ecole Superieur des Arts Decorateifs, and finally enrolled in the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. Since 1948, he has worked only on his personal art and has exhibited in Paris, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Finland and the U.S. He is a figurative painter but he is primarily interested in color and light. His subjects he regards only as a pretext for a color symphony. He has executed some decorative murals and has illustrated luxury editions of several books.
