Evita Oil Tanker
Oil tankers are very large containment ships designed for the bulk transport of oil. There are two different types of oil tankers, the crude tanker and the product tanker. Crude tankers are generally larger and carry oil from the point of extraction to refineries. Product tankers are much smaller and carry the refined oil to docks where it can then begin to be sold on a commercial level. Product tankers are much smaller because they need to be able to make port and offload their oil on to the docks.
Tankers can also be classified by their size as well as their occupation, although the two usually correspond with each other for the above reasons. Some crude tankers reach very large sizes of up to a few thousand metric tonnes of deadweight. These super-size ships are known as ULCCs or ultra large crude carriers. The larger crude carriers have become less popular in recent years and are rarely used amongst oil merchants.
This is a model ship of the Evita oil tanker which comes ready-made for display.
