late 19th/early 20th Century, both of lidded baluster shape with ormolu mounts, cobalt lids, necks, and socles all with raised gilt decoration, the bodies painted with classical scenes, one depicting Diana, the other Venus, both shown in clouds and attended by putti, the reverse of each painted with putti among clouds, signed 'C. Rochelle'

overall excellent, with slight crazing throughout the glaze; one with two small and fine hairlines to the gilt border below one throat; one lid with minor flake on underside of rim, not visible when seated; other lid with very fine and indiscreet hairline at rim only showing on one side
