Description
Kanai Makie lacquer box in the form of a book from the late 19th century. The box has red and black lacquer elements as well as gilt and some bronze attachments in the form of coins. The motif on the lid is of Takara Zukushi or Japanese treasures.
Dimensions are: 7" wide X 8 1/4" long X 3" tall. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: One coin missing from lid and the gilt is worn off. Some edge wear and chips to black lacquer finish.
