Description
Frederick H. Bushnell (American, 1858 - 1903), circa early 20th century archive of black and white and hand-colored photographs from his studio. The collection includes – a) (7) Large format photographs, some hand-colored, all depicting woman and children, each signed, ‘Bushnell S.F.’ in the margins.
The largest measures 12 7/8" tall X 9 3/4" wide. b) (3) black and white photographs each on paper embossed ‘BushnellÂ’. c) Large hand-colored photograph of a woman in profile, another variation of this image is in group a) and have been hand-signed, 13 7/8" tall X 11" wide. d) (4) photographs of the same woman in various Edwardian white dresses with openwork pictures wearing either a white ermine stole or a tiara, largest: 12 ½" tall X 7 ¾" wide. e) (15) images from the same archive assumed to be Bushnell, one specifically requesting credit to Bushnell depicting Mrs. Linette Serensky on verso. Largest: 13" tall X 8 7/8" wide; Smallest: 6" tall X 3" wide. All measurements are approximate. f) (1) Photograph by Edmond T. Dooley. In additional to his many photographic studios, Bushnell was known for his portraits of Broadway and Silent Film stars; several of these images appear to be promotional images. It is possible one series of hand colored profiles depict Viola Dana.
Condition: Some wear to the corners, free of major creases and tears.
