Description
SL SHELL PRESSED OPEN SALTS, LOT OF TWO, colorless, comprising an SL-1a with blue tint and SL-3, each with shaped rim. Scarce and very rare. Possibly Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1835-1850. Various sizes.
SL-1a proof with just a hint of mold roughness; SL-3 rim proof, base with several shallow chips/flakes.
Literature: Neal - Pressed Glass Salt Dishes of the Lacy Period, pp. 403 and 407. SL-3 colorless listed in The Acorn, Volume 15, 2008/2009, p. 70, "Pressed Glass Salt Dishes of the Lacy Period 1825-1850: An Addendum."
