Latin America, Mexico, ca. 19th century CE. An antique hand-carved and gold-leafed, wooden santo figure, probably a saint bishop, who dons sumptuous garments, the shoulder wrap appearing to be made of ermine or some other luxurious 'fur' given the pattern, as well as a large cross around his neck. He presents a long and elegant figure created via the very best technique, copiously painted with gold leaf. Size: 11.25" H (28.6 cm)
