Second half 19th century, 280 x 198 cm, Central Asia, West Turkestan
This antique Kizil Ayak main carpet displays four rows of thirteen tauk nuska primary güls and chemche secondary güls in a red-brown field. Halved hooked diamonds are arranged in opposite directions in the narrow white main border. – Signs of age and wear, several creases, one stitched tear, low spots in the pile. Original selvedges, the kilim ends survive.
