Pencil signed edition of 20. Lithograph. "Ethel Lubell Smul 'Ethel L. Smul': A fine twentieth century New York painter and lithographic artist, Ethel Smul first studied art at Hunter College. She then completed her education at the Art Students League of New York, under Brackman, Olinsky and Boardman Robinson. Ethel Smul was equally accomplished with both landscapes and figure studies. She began to exhibit her art around 1925 at such major institutions as the National Academy of Design, the National Association of Women Artists, Library of Congress, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Riverside Museum, and other shows in New York, Boston, Rochester and Philadelphia. Ethel Smul was a member of the American Society of Contemporary artists, New York (ASCA), the New York Society of Women artists, the New York Teachers Guild and the Society of Independent Artists. Examples of her artwork can be found in the permanent collections of the American Society of Contemporary Artists, New York, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio and other major private and public institutions. This artist can be found listed under various names; Ethel Lubell Smul was the name she used after she married Dr. Josef Smul, however, she usually signed her artwork under the name; 'Ethel L. Smul'."
