Description
PAIR OF PENNSYLVANIA FOLK ART FRAKTUR BLESSINGS, watercolor and ink on paper, both featuring a portrait of a woman in dress with striped bodice holding a flower within a circular surround above a stylized heart, inscribed for brothers, Michael Sill 1786" and "Johanes Sill 1786", additional garland-like devices. Each housed in a modern paint-decorated frame. Attributed to the Provinz Marialand Artist. Circa 1786. 6 3/4" x 4 3/8" sight, 8 7/8" x 6 1/4" OA.
Each in very good overall visual condition, with minor each tears, toning, and areas of discoloration. Each with approximately one-inch tear upper left.

Catalogue Note: Once thought to have been made in Maryland, it is now believed that the Sill brothers were living in Pennsylvania at the time of composition.
