SFX scissors and skewer created for the 2013 Carrie remake starring Chloe Grace Moretz. In the film Carrie has recently discovered that she has telekinetic abilities but her religiously zealous mother believes she and her powers are evil and attempts to kill her. Carrie then uses her powers to kill her mother, actress Julianne Moore, with a variety of flying metal tools and kitchen implements, and essentially crucifies her against a wall. The flying tools and implements were accomplished with CGI effects but became practical effects when her mother was pinned to the wall. The scissors can be seen 'embedded' in Julianne Moore's right hand in her death scene. The skewer was an option created by the SFX team but not ultimately used on screen. The partial scissors are made of resin and are painted silver and black. The skewer is made of stainless steel. Both pieces are mounted to padded hooks used to secure the props to the palm of a hand. Both pieces have faux blood on their bases.
