Description
NATIVE AMERICAN CHEROKEE-DECORATED RIB-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT BASKET white oak / ash, converging-rib, kidney form with wrapped rim and foot, high, arched handle, and dyed weavers to body. Retaining likely original dry, natural surface. Together with a Cherokee woven-splint river cane basket and a later stave-type oak and walnut woven-splint basket. Three pieces total. First quarter 20th century. 15 1/2" HOA, 6 3/4" H (rim), 10 1/2" W (rim).
Kidney form lacking lid, otherwise very good condition with minor wear. Others with scattered wear, moderate breaks and losses.
