Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE / PRATTWARE CERAMIC SHEPHERDESS / SHEPHERD FIGURE, LOT OF TWO comprising a shepherdess standing on molded base and holding a removable metal staff tied with a bow and a shepherd standing on a molded base and holding a barrel. Both with Pratt-type underglaze polychrome colors, and decorated in the round. Open-bottomed. Collection stickers attribute to Ralph Wood. Circa 1790. 6 1/2" HOA.
Shepherdess with minor wear to raised areas; shepherd with chip to underside of base and missing staff; both with glued repair and areas of restoration. Some firing flaws, as made.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, VA. All proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisition Fund.
