Very rare Altarpiece depicting St. George riding a horse in the act of killing the Dragon, in Carrara marble, completely worked and sculpted by hand with absolute care and precision. Being part of a couple, it was flanked by another work depicting Saint Michael. Positioned on the back wall of the presbytery of a church in Venice, period 1700. Extraordinary work, of superior quality, more unique than rare. Optimal to hang on the wall, it can also be supported, beautiful grain and patina of marble, shiny and refined. Exceptional attention to details and anatomical details, exclusive lot. Legend has it that this saint killed the monster as the latter with his breath killed people, asked in return for citizens to convert and be baptized. He works with evident allegorical messages, the victory of good over evil. It is in excellent condition, intact. It will be shipped with wooden case.
