Description
Ancient Europe, Spain, Iberian Peninsula, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A miniature solid bronze horse and rider votive fibula, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, the rider sitting on horseback with both arms extended outwards and finely incised details on the face and hands. Despite the minimalist form, the horse displays stylized yet somewhat naturalistic musculature detailing. Also notice the recession intended to receive the once attached pin of this special brooch. This piece would have made quite a handsome fibula! Size: 1.625" H (4.1 cm); 1.875" H (4.8 cm) on included custom stand.
