This is a nice foreign coin, from the country of Peru, South America. It Un Sol (One Sol), dated 1888. This coin is guaranteed genuine and it's in nice condition too ... I grade this at least uncirculated condition, even has good lustre ... really nice for an antique coin that is Almost 150 years old.On one side of the coin is a seated lady; also various words and phrase such as: FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION LIBERTAD UN SOL. On the other side, other words and phrases: REPUBLICA PERUANA LIMA 9 DECIMOS FINO Y.J 1888Less than a few million of this particular date of this coin were ever minted. But when you consider that most have been melted down when silver topped out near $50 per ounce, not many still exist. And in this condition the number of surviving uncirculated 1888 UN Sol coins are probably just several thousand really nice specimens.
