Description
Rare antique Japanese Meiji period vase. Silver and multi-metal vase with gold gilt detailing in the form of a Treasure Sack. The neck fluted and encircled by a gilt knotted rope. Cartouches interspersed about the body define circular garlands of assorted flowers modeled in relief in silver and gilt. Stylized phoenix and kiku reside under the lip in a scepter-like surround, the pedestal foot carved with a Greek key motif. Above the foot and carved into the body, a rich pattern simulates Japanese textiles. Japanese character Masahiko-zo artist signature on base. Measures approximately 12 1/4" x 10" Comes with the original tomobako and owner's box. Provenance: "Private World Class Collection" Miami, Florida.
