AN AMERICAN FEDERAL PERIOD GILTWOOD AND VERRE EGLOMISE LOOKING GLASS, CIRCA 1820-1830, the rectangular giltwood pine framed looking glass with engaged baluster form columns at the top and sides separated by blocks faced with relief composition floral filled baskets, the top fitted with a verre eglomise inset glass panel with stylized palmette border centering a scene composed of a water side cove with sailboat and fishermen standing on a rocky out jetting, the bottom fitted with a silvered glass plate. Height: 32 7/8" Width: 19 3/8" Depth: 3"
Condition
In overall fair to good used condition with evidence of retouching to the gilding; losses to verre eglomise panel; spotting to silvered glass plate.
