Description
(American, 1930 - 2018) with applied latticework in a sand glaze with splashes of green and blue to body, turquoise interior, unsigned. Betty Woodman was a sculptor and one of the foremost contemporary American ceramists. Small areas of glaze loss, firing cracks, a couple areas of loss to lattice, all of the above possibly occurred during the firing process. 11 1/2" high, 9" wide. This pot was specially designed and created by Betty Woodman in the early 2000’s for the modern glass house built on Fishers Island, NY by Thomas Armstrong, and designed by architect Tom Phifer. Woodman and Armstrong, who was the director of the Whitney Museum, were good friends. Provenance: Property of a New York City Collector.
