Description
DESCRIPTION:Extremely rare Imperial Russian Gold and enameled sash badge of the order of Saint Andrew the First. The front of the sash features and enameled rendering of a St. Andrew being crucified on an X cross with the abbreviations SAPR at each corner, standing for St. Andrew Patron of Russia. The cross rests upon a gold double Imperial double headed eagle embellished with black enamel accents along the eyes and feathers. The obverse side is similarly varnished with enameled banner:"For Faith and Loyalty" which is the motto of the order. Finished and hung with a blue enameled coiled ribbon topped by a red enameled crown. Hallmarked St. Petersburg with a 56 gold standard and in Cyrillic, Eduard. the suspension hooks are marked with matching hallmarks. Very minor loss of enamel due to swinging on the suspension hook.
