Description
This Rolex Time to the Second Chromometer Desk Clock is powered by a Rolex quartz movement with dead-beat center-second, the present ref. 455 is one of the most iconic Rolex presentation chronometer desk clock produced exclusively in the 1980s for Rolex authorized retailers. Using all the stylistic elements, who made the success of the brand, such as the \"Mercedes\" hands, the combination of round, baton and triangular indexes, the Cyclops lens in the acrylic glass to magnify the gold-rimmed date, the wood-effect lacquered dial, with matching bezel insert (such as the well-known gold Gmt-Master ref. 1442), a dead-beat center second (as the rare Beta 21 caliber), a heavy cylindrical inclined large gilt brass based with reeded sides (such as the bezel of similar Rolex wristwatches). All setting buttons are hidden underneath the base. Rare to find on the market, these unusual clocks are actually undercover. Produced in limited series for presentation to Rolex Retailers, this cult clock has to be on every Rolex\'s collector desk. A similar piece sold at Christie\'s Auction House in 2013 for over $13,000. The clock face measures 4.75\" diameter, it is 4\" tall, & 5.25\" deep. In 2014, the piece was reviewed by a Rolex Authorized Laboratory yet the battery requires a change.
