An American Silver Plate Trophy Covered Dish awarded to Walter Owen "Spike" Briggs Jr.. Oval form with gadrooned rims and removable handle. Engraved "The Metamora Hunt Races Sept. 1932 Metamora Steeplechase Won by Red Fox III W.O. Briggs Jr.-Owner, W.O. Briggs Jr.-UP" at the side of the cover; stamped with mark of E.G. Webster & Son at the underside. Numerous surfaces evident, some scratches at the interior reveal the copper. 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 5" high. ESTIMATE $200-400 Ex: Collection of Walter Owen "Spike" Briggs Jr., former owner of the Detroit Tigers and Major League Baseball executive.
