Color and ink on paper. Framed. Inscribed and Signed Baishi, with two seals of the artist. The painting "Cricket Floating On a Falling Leaf " was painted. in 1949, when Qi Baishi was still in good physical condition and mental health, he remained vigorous in creativity and produced many more excellent Chinese paintings. In this painting you will observe a cricket was trapped and floating on a falling linden leaf surrounding with endless of water. The cricket’s body is done in green with red tail which contrasts superbly to the brown linden leaf. Qi Baishi ’s insects world excels when done in fine-line details where painting "Cricket Floating On a Falling Leaf" is on full display. Qi Baishi (1864-1957)was born in Xiangtan, Hunan, he is the most innovative and influential painter in the Chinese Modern art history and is the only Chinese artist of the 20th century to have placed among the giants of the world culture.
